Susan DeCarlo-Piccirillo

Sue Decarlo
CRNA, DNP


Susan graduated with an MS from Columbia University in 1985, DNP Rush University, Chicago. She has served as program director for the EMMC School of Nurse Anesthesia, the head for EMMC anesthesia department, and chief nurse anesthetist for the Spectrum Medical Group.

She is currently clinical coordinator for the University of New England, Biddeford, ME, where she is also an academic instructor of anesthesia.

James Husson James A. Husson

James graduated with honors from the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he received his master of science degree in anesthesia. He earned his CRNA diploma from Eastern Maine Medical Center School of Nurse Anesthesia and his RN diploma from EMMC School of Nursing.

Nancy Gause

In 2008, Nancy marks her thirtieth year at Eastern Maine Medical Center, with nearly 20 years as a CRNA. She loves clinical anesthesia, especially neurosurgery, pediatrics, and bariatric surgery. She is the chief CRNA at the Eye Center of Bangor.

Nancy says, "It is my passion, as the board chair of Nurse Anesthesia of Maine, to help manage our company so that it provides exceptional career opportunities and fulfilling lifestyles for the people and families who rely on us."

David Hessert

David has lived in the Bangor area all his life, except during his ten-year stint with the Air Force. He graduated from the University of Southern Maine in 1979, from the Air Force Squadron Officers School in 1984, and from the Air Force Nursing Service Management School in 1986.

In 1993, he earned his master of science degree in nursing anesthesia from the University of New England, where he is an associate professor serving on the clinical faculty. David worked as chief anesthetist for Spectrum Medical Group and has been the chief CRNA for Eastern Maine Medical Center since 2003. He also serves his professional colleagues as a member of the board of directors of the Maine Association of Nurse Anesthetists.

Sandra Gale Serpell

Sandra Gale Serpell

Sandy has served on NAMe's Board of Managers since
2003. She has a special interest in bariatric and robotic anesthesia.

Sandy earned her bachelor of science degree in nursing from Husson College, Bangor, ME and her master of science in Nurse Anesthesia from the University of New England in Biddeford.

She was born in the Province of Quebec, Canada, and has been a U.S. citizen since 1984. As the recruiter for Nurse Anesthesia of Maine, Sandy says, "It's both interesting and rewarding communicating the benefits of working for a CRNA-owned company and living the Maine lifestyle."

Paul graduated with his nursing degree from Auburn School of Nursing, Cambridge, MA and then worked for seven years at Boston City Hospital.

He received his CRNA education at EMMC School of Nurse Anesthesia from 1984-86 and developed special interest in chest and vascular anesthesia.

Gary Moretti

Gary has 27 years of practicing anesthesia right here in River City. He is the co-founder of Partners in Health, a nonprofit volunteer outreach program that sends medical teams into third-world areas. He has participated in missions to Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and the Dominican Republic.

Jenny is a graduate of the EMMC Registered Nursing Program, Class of 1978, and the EMMC Registered Nurse Anesthesia Program, Class of 1983.

She has served as chief CRNA at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth, ME and as staff CRNA at Mount Desert Island Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital, Spectrum Medical Group, and Nashua Memorial Hospital.

Barb is a 1980 graduate of the CMMC Registered Nursing Program and a 1987 graduate of the EMMC Registered Nurse Anesthesia Program. She worked as a nurse anesthetist at St. Joseph Hospital, Spectrum Medical Group, and EMMC before joining NAMe.
